Account Executive - Employee Benefits

Job Description:
We are expanding our team and are seeking an experienced and talented Health and Welfare insurance sales professional who enjoys working in a professional and entrepreneurial environment. You will also have cross selling opportunities with our portfolio of HR, Voluntary Benefit, Retirement and Benefit / HRIS Online Enrollment solutions. The qualified candidate should focus on individual goals and achievements and have a strong desire to be competitive and win as a team. Critical attributes are; generating leads, networking, and developing and enhancing new and existing relationships while providing excellent client satisfaction. A strong proactive sales philosophy is a must. Flexibility and creativity are encouraged to develop new and customized business solutions for our clients. New ideas on sales strategies and business solutions to capture market share and enhance value to clients are expected. Excellent listening, speaking, writing and presentation skills are essential, as are relationship development and interpersonal skills. Regional travel will be required. Seeking dynamic employee benefit producer with proven group health sales experience to further expand and manage agency's business development goals. Must have prior success in lead generation with follow through to closure. This is not an entry level position as you must be willing to hit the ground running.


  • Experienced life and health agent in individual, and small market segments (Medicare is a Plus)
  • Must have experience generating new leads
  • Proven track record of sales success as well as client retention; including 5+ years of Health and Welfare insurance brokerage sales experience; must possess relevant insurance licenses
  • Must be a self-starter who has the ability to identify and develop new client relationships—this is a “hunter” not a “farmer” role
  • Knowledge of health carriers and funding mechanisms required, as well as ancillary benefit lines
  • Michigan Life and Health license required
  • Must be current in regulations and compliance including PPACA
  • Ability to "think outside the box" preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be detail oriented and yet able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives
  • History of working as an collaborative member of a team and an illustrated commitment to outstanding client service
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills, sound judgment, and strong decision making ability
  • Aptitude for, or demonstrated working knowledge of sales force automation technologies and/or experience applying these technologies in the sales process
  • Would consider purchase of existing agency book of business
